While much of the immunization market is shifting to the consumer locations, such as national pharmacy chains, the majority of childhood and adult vaccine injections will remain in the physicians office.
This market of over 200 million injections in the United States is growing. There are over 50,000 pediatricians in the U.S. and over 50% of all vaccine injections in the U.S. are childhood vaccines given in physicians’ offices.
What Others Have To Say
I give my patients a choice between the PharmaJet and a regular needle injection. Almost all of them choose the PharmaJet and feel it is more comfortable than a regular injection. The surprising patients are the children. Occasionally, there is a tear or a whimper with the injection, but parents are thrilled with the response. Most tell me, “It took three nurses to hold him down for his last immunization!” Needles cause so much fear and panic, no matter how old the patient. And then there’s the lack of needle waste (and the cost of processing used needles), along with lowering the risk of a needlestick. I’m so glad we can offer needle-free injections with PharmaJet at Head2Toe HealthCare. – Deanna R. Tolman, DNP, FNP-BC; Owner, Head2Toe Healthcare, Aurora, CO
